Sidebar
Every workspace, tab and agent on the host in one list, with live agent status. Tap one to jump straight to it.
Multiplexer sessions grow: a workspace per project, a tab per agent, and suddenly getting to the right one means cycling through everything in between. The Sidebar replaces the cycling with a map. It lists every workspace, tab and agent on the host, fetched live, with each agent's status. Tap a row and you're there, with no prefix chords involved.
The Sidebar used to be a sheet called Jump to…. It does the same job, and a lot more.
Opening it
- Session header — tap the green button next to the yellow minimize button, or drag the header to the right.
- Toolbar — tap Sidebar in the terminal toolbar. It's in the default toolbar layout; if you've customized yours, re-add it under Settings -> Input.
- Gestures — under Settings -> Input -> Gestures, bind Open Sidebar to a double or triple tap on the terminal, a swipe up on the toolbar, or a double tap or long press on the keyboard button. Or bind Show Sidebar to a one- or two-finger swipe on the terminal: swipe right to show the Sidebar and left to hide it. See Gestures.
On iPad, and on other screens with room beside the terminal, the Sidebar docks as its own column instead of sliding over the terminal. With Open by default on (the default), it's already showing when you open a session. Moshi remembers whether each session had the Sidebar open.
Workspaces and Agents
The switch next to the search field picks between two views. Moshi remembers your pick.
- Workspaces — the host's layout: each workspace with its tabs, panes and agents underneath. For tmux that's sessions and their windows; for Herdr, workspaces and their tabs; for Rex, sessions, windows and blocks. Linked Herdr worktrees nest under the repository they belong to. Tap a workspace's header to collapse it.
- Agents — every agent on the host in one list, grouped as Waiting, Done, Working and Idle, and sorted within each group by how long the agent has been in that state. Use it to find the agent that needs you without scanning the whole tree.
Agent rows show the agent's logo and status. They're named after the agent's conversation, or the name you gave it. Turn on Show agent details to add the model and how much context is left.
Search
At the top of the Sidebar is a search field: Search workspaces, tabs, panes. Type part of a workspace, tab, pane or conversation name and the tree flattens into one list of matches, each with its workspace shown alongside. Agents are ranked by status, so the ones waiting on you come first.
Pin favourites
Long-press any workspace, tab, pane or agent and choose Pin. Pinned rows sit in a Pinned section at the top of the Sidebar in both views. If a pinned row's tab or pane is gone, it shows as Unavailable until it comes back. Long-press it and choose Unpin to remove it.
Manage from the Sidebar
Long-press a row for its menu. What's offered depends on the row and on what the multiplexer allows:
- Rename… — rename a workspace, tab or pane on the host. On an agent row, it gives the agent a name of your own in Moshi; with Use tab names on, it renames the tab on the host instead.
- New tab / New pane — open a terminal in a workspace or tab. The + next to Workspaces creates a new workspace from a folder path; leave it blank to open a terminal in
~. - Agent… / Run agent here… — pick one of the coding agents installed on the host and start it in a new tab, or in an empty terminal. The Sidebar switches to it once it starts.
- New worktree… — Herdr only. Check out a branch as a git worktree and open it as a new workspace, nested under its repository.
- Reorder… — change the order of your Herdr or Rex workspaces. tmux sessions have no order to change. Saving a new order turns off Sort workspaces.
- Git — on a workspace in a git repository: Pull, Push (or Publish branch when it has no upstream), Fetch and Copy branch name.
- Copy path, Copy session id, and copy the tab or pane's multiplexer id.
- Close an agent, pane, tab or workspace, after a confirmation.
Creating worktrees, reordering workspaces and the Git menu need a recent moshi-hook. If one of them says to update moshi-hook, update it on the host and reconnect.
Settings
Sidebar options live under Settings -> Agents -> Sidebar, with a live preview at the top.
- Flatten panes — show panes directly under workspaces.
- Sort agents — newest activity first, within each workspace.
- Sort workspaces — workspaces needing attention first. Off keeps the multiplexer's own order.
- Use tab names — show multiplexer names instead of agent titles.
- Show agent details — model and context under agent rows.
- Show context as used — read out context used instead of left.
- Open by default — show the Sidebar when there's room beside the terminal.
Requirements
The Sidebar reads the host's layout from moshi-hook, so it needs the hook daemon running on the host. It works in tmux, Herdr and Rex sessions. A bare shell or a Zellij session has nothing to list, and the Sidebar asks you to start tmux or Herdr.
Agent status comes from the agents' hooks, so install them for each agent you run. See Hooks & the Inbox.
The Sidebar is a Pro feature. Opening it, browsing and searching are always free, and so are your first 10 jumps. After that, jumping asks for Pro.
The Sidebar moves you around inside a session and has no links of its own. For links from a dashboard, Shortcut, or notification, use active-session deep links.
Troubleshooting
"The Moshi hook isn't available for this session"
The host isn't running moshi-hook, or it's an older build without workspace support. Install or update it — see Hooks & the Inbox — and reconnect.
"Run tmux or herdr"
The current session isn't inside a multiplexer the Sidebar can read. Start one — see tmux or Herdr — and open the Sidebar from inside it.
"Nothing to jump to"
The multiplexer reported no workspaces. Create a window or tab and it appears.
"Couldn't load" or an empty Sidebar
The app can't reach moshi-hook's gateway on the host. See Debugging the gateway.
